Raising hybrid chickens comes with an array of advantages such as increased egg production, disease resistance, and potential cost-effectiveness. However, it's essential to weigh these benefits against the disadvantages, including limited breeding potential and less predictable traits in offspring.
The main reason Rhode Island Reds are so popular is their excellent egg production. A single hen can lay between 260-280 eggs in a year. This breed is also popular for the size of their eggs, as they produce large brown eggs.

The Leg bar is a rare British auto-sexing breed of chicken. Whilst still very rare in The States we are proud to breed these beautiful birds at Birchfield.
BLUE EGG LAYERS!
Brahma chickens are incredibly friendly and docile birds and make wonderful pets, they can be mixed with most breeds but are quite timid so should not be placed with more aggressive breeds. They are an average layer offering 150 medium cream/brown tinted eggs a year.
Marans chickens are famous for laying incredibly dark brown eggs. These birds are friendly, do well both in confinement and on the range, and they get along great in mixed-breed flocks. They have much to offer for backyards and barnyards alike.
